A Summer of Play

As the seasons shift and the days grow longer, we find ourselves entering a time of year that invites a different rhythm. Summer offers an opportunity to slow down, spend more time outdoors, reconnect with what nourishes us, and make space for joy.
At The Red Shoes, we have embraced that spirit intentionally in our Summer Catalog. This season's programming was thoughtfully designed to create room for exhale. Rather than filling every moment, we have curated offerings that encourage exploration, creativity, reflection, and meaningful connection.
We are especially excited to begin the season in celebration and community with Mid-City's Hot Art Cool Nights on Friday, May 8. The evening will feature the opening reception of Expressions of Experience, our second art installation in partnership with Ellemenop Art. This local showcase highlights the work of 23 women artists sharing their stories, perspectives, and creativity through visual art.
The event will also celebrate the release of Letter It Out, Vol. 3, a hand-lettering and mental health book series curated by Jenn Lee Creates. Featuring essays and hand-lettered artwork from 25 contributing artists, the collection explores themes of mental health, reflection, resilience, and storytelling. We are honored that proceeds from the book launch will benefit The Red Shoes.
Together, these events reflect the heart of this season: creativity, connection, and the transformative power of shared experience.
In a world that often asks us to do more, produce more, and hold more, we recognize that resilience is not built through constant effort alone. It is cultivated through balance. Through rest. Through creativity. Through community.
As you browse our Summer Catalog, you will notice a softer pace woven throughout the season. From art and creative expression to movement, wellness, nature, and spiritual exploration, each offering has been selected with intention. Whether you find yourself shaping clay with your hands, gathering around the table to share stories and remedies, moving your body in gentle and expressive ways, or sitting in circle under the light of the moon, these experiences are designed to nourish rather than overwhelm.
These are more than programs. They are invitations.
Invitations to slow down.
Invitations to reconnect with yourself.
Invitations to discover new sources of joy, creativity, and meaning.
My hope is that this season offers you moments of lightness and renewal. That you give yourself permission to play, rest, and explore without expectation. And that through these small but meaningful experiences, you continue to cultivate the resilience that sustains you not only through summer, but through every season of your life.
We look forward to sharing this season with you.
