Community Fridge
The Red Shoes hosts a Community Fridge on our property to provide healthy, accessible food for our neighbors. Together, we can fight hunger and build a stronger, more compassionate community.

Fill the Fridge July
Now entering its third year, Fill the Fridge July is a community-wide initiative dedicated to keeping The Red Shoes Community Fridge stocked and accessible 24/7 for anyone in need.

The unfortunate fact is that Louisiana ranks high in food insecurity among children and seniors.

What began as a simple act of care has grown into a collective movement of nourishment, dignity, and community support. Each day throughout July, individuals, families, businesses, and organizations pledge to help fill the fridge with fresh food, pantry staples, beverages, and essential items for our neighbors.

The Community Fridge exists as a free resource rooted in mutual aid: take what you need, leave what you can. No barriers. No questions asked.

At The Red Shoes, we believe care should be accessible, communal, and grounded in compassion. From essential needs to personal transformation, our work exists to support the well-being of the community in meaningful and tangible ways.

How Does It Work?
The process is simple:
Donate Food: Add food to the fridge or pantry to help meet your neighbors' nutritional needs.
Take Food: Anyone can come by, open the door, and take whatever food they want—no forms, no programs, no barriers.
Together, we can ensure no one in our community goes hungry.
