Wren Brumfield

BSW Intern

Wren Brumfield is a senior in the Bachelor of Social Work program at LSU with plans to pursue a master’s degree in social work and become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Born and raised in Baton Rouge, she is passionate about exploring the many disciplines within social work practice and is eager to experience The Red Shoes’ programs through this lens.

Wren has a lifelong love of animals and the outdoors. Horses have always been a central part of her life—she has been riding since childhood and still enjoys riding her horse, Valentine, who has been with her since she was 10 years old. She also shared this passion through years of work as a horseback riding instructor and as director of the therapeutic riding program at BREC’s Farr Park Equestrian Center.

Family plays a meaningful role in Wren’s life; she is the proud middle sister of three. When she’s not at the farm with her horse, she can often be found taking long walks or attending agility competitions with her dog, Huckleberry. She also enjoys gardening, caring for houseplants, playing guitar, practicing yoga, running, volunteering, and traveling. Exploring new places and meeting new people are some of her greatest joys.

Wren looks forward to forming meaningful relationships with participants at The Red Shoes while learning more about the diverse ways this community fosters growth, healing, resilience, and connection. She is excited to learn from the women in the community and hopes to contribute a warm, friendly presence while sharing her own ideas and perspectives.
