Book Study

Care of The Soul

Mondays Weekly

Beginning March 7

noon -1:30 pm

Are you ready to look more deeply into your life and sense the sacred in ordinary things? Join as we begin exploring a remarkable book, Care of the Soul: A Guide for Cultivating Depth and Sacredness in Everyday Life by psychotherapist, former monk and author Thomas Moore. In it, Moore uses archetypal psychology and mythology to examine the connections between spirituality and the issues facing individuals and society. While the message of this book regarding caring for yourself and your soul is straightforward, its implications might surprise you: you are a unique, complex individual and all aspects of that complexity must be allowed, even embraced, if you are to engage life with satisfying depth.

Facilitated by Joan McCaskill, MA, Spiritual Director.

The Spiritual Ecology Circle

Join us to explore the spiritual dimension of our present ecological crisis. This Circle grows out of the awareness that the outer destruction we see in the world is related to an inner disconnection from and disregard for the sacred within all of life. Through book studies, film screenings, speakers, ceremonies and activities in nature, we will explore ideas and ways of seeing that bring us back into relationship with an animate, ensouled world.  Cultivating a sense of humility and joy in being a part of the natural world, we will move towards an ethics of responsibility, reciprocity, care and love for each other, the earth and all beings.

Book Study

Braiding Sweetgrass

Mondays Weekly

Beginning March 7

6:00 -7:15 pm

Join us in a study of Robin Wall Kimmerer's 'Braiding Sweetgrass', a New York Times and Washington Post Bestseller. In this remarkable book, Kimmerer weaves together her experiences as a bearer of different strands of wisdom and ways of seeing the world: Western Science, Indigenous Traditional Knowledge, and her experiences as a woman and a mother.  Through stories, she shows us how other living beings ―asters and goldenrod, strawberries and squash, salamanders, algae, and sweetgrass―offer us gifts and lessons, even if we've forgotten how to hear their voices. Together we will immerse ourselves in Kimmerer's paradigm-shifting reflections, and consider her central argument: that the awakening of ecological consciousness requires the acknowledgment and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world.

Facilitated by Lilia Kapsali-Grant, Assistant Program Director of The Red Shoes, Nature Connected Coach, Master's in Outdoor Environmental Education.

Sacred Cacao Ceremony

Friday March 18

6:30 - 8:30 pm

In the month of the Spring Equinox, join us for a Cacao Ceremony, a sacred ritual to honor the elements and spirits of Nature, to create a harmonious matrix with all living beings and express gratitude for Life itself. In the ancient times, the Spring Equinox was considered a rare and magical time, a holy time of transition and renewal. Join us as we come together to celebrate the miraculous balance of nature and the return of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and in our hearts.

Theobroma cacao is a plant medicine that helps open your heart space and connects you on a deeper level to yourself and others through the frequency of love, compassion and joy. It is associated with the heart chakra, assisting in any transformational shift you are working towards, whether you are looking to deepen your understanding of who you are, release old patterns and traumas, or increase your connection to other beings as a child of this Earth. Join us for ceremonial cacao sharing, intention setting, singing, breathwork, movement, meditation, deep rest and a sharing circle.

This ceremony is open to ALL bodies and beings.

Our cacao is from a family business which sources high-quality, ceremonial-grade, organic cacao ethically and responsibly from small family farms in the 'Laguna Lachua' region of north-central Guatemala.

Co-facilitated by Cindi DiMarco, Bijou McCurdy and Lilia Kapsali-Grant, who will bring their magic together to alchemize a safe and potent ceremony. The space will be held with the intention of connection, community and healing, through connecting with the spirit of Cacao.

Prenatal Kundalini Yoga

Sundays Beginning March 20

1:30-2:30 pm

Pregnancy is a time of profound transformation that offers not only rare joy, but also unique challenges, both physical and emotional. Across time and cultures, expecting women have enjoyed Kundalini Yoga for its focus on creating inner strength, fearlessness, a strong physical body and a quiet mind.

Pregnancy, Birth & Kundalini are emotional, physical and spiritual experiences. They take you into the inner landscape of your being. Prenatal Kundalini Yoga is an exploration of moving away from the “looks like” and into the “feels like” of pregnancy, labor, delivery, recovery and parenting.

We will be moving the body, engaging with and training the breath, meditating to calm the mind and nervous system and connecting to the baby within, empowering you to trust and listen to your body and cherishing the changes.

Facilitated by Mykael Goff, a lifetime student of mysticism and healing arts. Mykael studied and certified in Kundalini yoga and meditation Los Angeles, India and NYC. A First time mother to be, she wakes up for early sadhana daily before sunrise, and is excited to share her practice and experience with other mamas to be and to connect in this unique time we find ourselves bringing in the next generation of conscious creative beings with love, peace and a sense of community connection and support.

8 Week Book Study: A Self-Study
Me and White Supremacy

Sundays

Beginning March 20

2 - 3:30 pm

*POSTPONED*

7 study groups have completed this study. You have the opportunity to join this upcoming cohort of participants to invest in this learning process.

The Red Shoes eight-week self-study based on the new book Me and White Supremacy by Layla F. Saad.

This book creates access points to the places racism hides: within our beliefs; within the structures that offer us comfort; and within the ideals with which we were raised.

This study invites a challenging experience.  It's a time to commit to deeper levels of self-examination and active dismantling of our own participation in systems of oppression.

The time is now, the work is hard. Together, in circle, we will transform the inner so it can be reflected in our humanity and in how we live together.

Facilitated by Mary Mikell, LCSW, dedicated to working with Phone, Health Care Centers in Schools and Together Baton Rouge.

Fees for this class are at your discretion, starting at $20 donation for the 8 week experience. If able to pay more, your contribution will support ongoing anti-racism and racial equity programs.  Scholarships available at request.
We will NOT meet on Easter Sunday

Two Part Series: The Power of Sound

Part 1: Claiming Personal Power Through Your Voice

Saturday March 26

10:30 am - noon

This introductory interactive workshop will begin to explore relationships between 'silencing' ourselves, and learning simple methods and practices to begin to open a critical channel of expression: our voice.

Voice carries with it the potential to express innate personal power, resonance, authority, and confidence. Too often we diminish our 'true' voice, suppressing our broader capacity for communicating far beyond words. This suppression can lead to loss of personal power, loss of 'self' in the overall communication of our core beings, and can possibly lead to physical illnesses.

Grounding into your 'inner' voice and vocalizing your innate truth and inner wisdom is a process that is both physical, as well as emotional and spiritual.

Please register online by Friday, March 25 to receive the ZOOM link for the class.

Part 2: Your Voice As A Core Healer

Saturday April 2

10:30 am - noon

The focus of this mini-workshop is to embrace our inner 'song' to further embody the profound healing potential of our own voice. With a focus on shifting inner vibratory frequencies through sound, we will be introduced to the value of toning, chanting, singing, humming, and breathing grace and ease into our own wounded and grief-filled spaces.

Each of us is a symphony of vibrations, harmonies, resonances, and frequencies.  Accessing the depth of these frequencies and expressing them more fully through full-body sound vocalizations, provides some of the most powerful personal healing practices. These are easily accessible, and can be used any time to ground into your innate wisdom and luscious body.

Facilitated by Facilitated by Robyn O'Boyle (formerly Robin Cunnigham), Vibrational Medicine Specialist - CH, LMT, RRMT working with holistic forms of healing for nearly 45 years.

Please register online by Friday, April 1 to receive the ZOOM link for the class.

Conscious Connected Breathing with Jack Fontana

Sunday May 1

4:00-6:00 pm

*2 spots available*

Are you ready for a profound shift in your perception about life and a clear  understanding about how you are approaching it? Do you want to truly understand what you need to do to shift into more joy? If you are ready to live from an authentic place, this experience is for you.

Conscious Connected Breathing (CCB) is an ancient yogic tradition originated in India used to release negative emotions trapped in the body.

The goal of the work is to stay present in the body as you focus your breath to release the sensations and emotions that have become trapped. This release creates the potential to transform fear to love.

The breath oxygenates the body and facilitates the release of endorphins and neuropeptides, which create a feeling of tranquility.  It helps one to let go of the past and resolve issues. This enables liberation from limiting patterns and beliefs to create a space to tap into acceptance and aliveness.

Facilitated by Jack Anthony Fontana. Jack has been a student of breathwork since 1985. His Level IV Professional Breathwork certification was achieved in 2002 from Jim Morningstar and the Transformations Breathwork Training Program. He is an active member of the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance.  Jack has worked with over 15,000 people in breathwork practice, workshops, and retreats in New Orleans and around the country.

Women Remembering: Facets of the Sacred Feminine

Tuesday March 29

5:30-6:45 pm

Join Anne Scott, an inspired leader of women's circles across the country, for an intimate monthly circle of sharing and witnessing: How do we cherish our inner light and live it into the world? How do we remember and embody our connection to the earth? The circle will include a short silent meditation of the heart, and time for sharing and discussion.

The theme for this month's circle is 'Attention'. Anne shares:

"I’m aware of the need to draw upon a peace deeper than the conflict. I feel right now that I need to care for this inner space, to hold a space for everything. And to breathe with greater attention, and listening, and witnessing.

In these times of increasing complexity and uncertainty, our circles act as deep, yet simple, reminders, like iron filings and a magnet, restoring or aligning us with our essence. How do we hold this light, to cherish and live this truth in life?  We will focus on simple ways of being, such as presence, attention and witnessing in everyday life, that help bring us back into balance.

Facilitated by Anne Scott, Founding Director of Dreamweather Foundation

Please register online at least 3 hours before the start of class and we will email the link prior to class.
