How do you actually find the right lawyer after a serious injury?
A relative was hurt in a work related accident and we are trying to figure out where to even start with legal help. How do you usually check that a firm or referral service is legitimate before committing to anything?

I went through something similar last year and the first thing I noticed is that not every firm handles serious injury cases regularly, even if the website says they do. I would look at whether they are upfront about practice areas like construction accidents, commercial vehicle collisions or pedestrian cases, since those are handled quite differently. Referral services exist too, and one I came across while comparing options was this link, where the case types and the no upfront cost arrangement were at least stated plainly. That does not make it the right fit for everyone. I would still compare two or three options, ask directly who ends up handling the file, and check how fees are calculated before signing anything. Clear answers to those questions told me more than any promotional wording on a homepage.
