About the event
Sometimes a poem knows something about us before we do. In the words we are drawn to, the images that linger, and the lines that unexpectedly move us, we may discover feelings and truths that have been waiting just beneath the surface.
Join poet and author Anne Bucey for an intimate exploration of poetry as a doorway into the shadow self: the hidden, complicated, and often unspoken parts of who we are.
Anne will begin by reading selected poems from her chapbook, A Shade Pulled Just Barely, inviting us into a rich conversation about the themes, imagery, and truths her work brings to light. Together, we’ll consider how poetry can both reveal and conceal, giving language to what we may struggle to name or even recognize within ourselves.
