Using See No Stranger as our guide, we will explore questions to build community and integrate the practices of revolutionary love into our daily life. Explore questions around identity that may affect our perspective, the history, patterns and resilience of our community. Cultivate the ability to wonder, expand the practice of listening to our deepest wisdom, and learn to tend to our wounds. Show up with a willingness to stand in solidarity with community and wonder about the experiences that are too painful in order to experience joy as the gift of love.

‍The renowned dance theater company, Pilobolus, is dedicated to collaborative creation and discovering beauty in unexpected places. ‍”t’ll be the Pilobolus you’ve grown to love – the wit, sensuality, and stunning physical acumen – bringing our past into the future as we question our own givens, turn traditions sideways, and put the “Oh!” in BIG FIVE-OH!”  Pilobolus is a rebellious dance company. Since 1971, Pilobolus has tested the limits of human physicality to explore the beauty and the power of connected bodies.

About Pilobolus:

We continue to bring this tradition to global audiences through our post-disciplinary collaborations with some of the greatest influencers, thinkers, and creators in the world. Now, in our digitally driven and increasingly mediated landscape, we also reach beyond performance to teach people how to connect through designed live experiences. We bring our decades of expertise telling stories with the human form to show diverse communities, brands, and organizations how to maximize group creativity, solve problems, create surprise, and generate joy through the power of nonverbal communication.

Play & Talk Back Discussion: The Road to Damascus (As Told by Grandmother to Little Red)

Saturday, March 11

6:00 - 9:00 pm

At The Red Shoes

ArtSpot Productions presents: A performance examining the role the church in America has played in creating and uplifting a criminal legal system that inequitably punishes and destroys the lives of Black citizens and their families, especially here in Louisiana.

In The Road to Damascus (as told by Grandmother to Little Red), a Grandmother, who is incarcerated, weaves together a tale for her granddaughter to illuminate the persecutional nature of the system they live in. This exposes the complexity of the perpetrator/victim/savior dynamic. At a time when Christianity is increasingly polarized, we look at Christ’s deepest teachings to examine the role we play in crime and punishment, harm and healing.

Witness this “Damascus experience”—and perhaps share your own. Deepen the conversation identifying the harm that has led to our current, dysfunctional legal system and uncover ways to repair and end that harm.

Talk Back discussion with writer and director following a short break after this solo performance.

Created, written and performed by Kathy Randels; directed and co-created with Odile Del Giudice. The piece is drawn from Randels’ upbringing as the offspring of two generations of Southern Baptist preachers and teaching theater to and learning from currently and formerly incarcerated women at Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women for 24 years, and Del Giudice’s work identifying and addressing collective trauma.

Nat Geo Live - On the Trail of Big Cats

Manship Partnership Event
Wednesday, March 22

7:30 pm

At Shaw Center for the Arts

Wildlife photographer Steve Winters shares his experience documenting threatened big cat species around the world, and learn how by saving them, we can save ourselves.

Steve has spent over 20 years leading photographic expeditions to remote locations around the world on a mission to save big cats. Winter’s dedication to the protection of these iconic animals has made him a cornerstone of the National Geographic Big Cats Initiative, a long-term commitment by the Society to stop poaching, preserve habitats, and support education to halt extinction.

In Steve Winter's opinion, being a National Geographic photojournalist is the best job in the world. Despite being attacked by rhinos, stalked by jaguars, charged by a grizzly bear, and being trapped in quicksand. He did all of that to capture the perfect image to tell a story that speaks for those that cannot speak for themselves.

Join us as we learn even more about Steve Winter over an exciting evening, in partnership with Manship Theatre.

Wandering Monk, Brian Lottman

Saturday & Sunday

March 25 & 26

At The Red Shoes

Ten years ago, Brian renounced his worldly life and set out on the road to share the mystical path to Self-Realization. As a “wandering monk,” he has held hundreds of gatherings at spiritual centers, churches, and yoga studios all over the country. Brian speaks about the nature of Truth and Love.  While playing Harmonium, he holds a transformative space to bring the mind into deeper states of meditation.

Saturday   2-3:30 pm    Healing the Body and Senses

In our time together, we will energetically divinize the body and senses. When the body is transformed into light, meditation becomes easier because the mind is not focused on the physical reality. This healing session may be helpful in clearing the deeper cause of pain suffering and disease. Mantra helps to clear the subconscious karma that keeps an ailment in place.

Sunday      1-2:30 pm    Magical Mantra, Mudra, and Breath

Awaken to all. We will explore simple spiritual practices for accessing higher states of consciousness and empowering our meditations. Experience mantras with energy that activates latent powers of healing and virtue. Learn Mudras, hand positions, that clears energy channels. Breathe into this magical moment of now.

Facilitated by Brian Lottman, a “wandering monk” who travels the U.S., sharing healing energy for spiritual awakening. He is an inspirational speaker and a meditation teacher.

Women Remembering: Facets of the Sacred Feminine

Last Tuesday Monthly

March 28

5:30-6:45 pm

Zoom Only

Join Anne Scott, an inspired leader of women's circles across the country, for an intimate monthly circle of sharing and witnessing. "Over the years, I have had many dreams about the divine feminine, or spiritual feminine. Slowly my conditioning - personal and historical -  shifted, so that I could restore a deeper knowledge of how the qualities of compassion, healing, and wisdom, can be lived each day. More and more, I had to leave behind certain beliefs so that I could see and hold the Sacred in ordinary life. And this is the gift of the Feminine."

The circle will include a short silent meditation of the heart, and time for sharing and discussion.
