Book Study: A Self-Study
Me and White Supremacy

Zoom

6 study groups have completed this 8 week program; a 7th group is currently working through this study experience.  We are eager to continue to support the growth engendered through this important work. You have the opportunity to join an upcoming cohort of participants to invest in this learning process.

The Red Shoes eight-week self-study is based on the book Me and White Supremacy by Layla F. Saad.

This book creates access points to the places racism hides: within our beliefs; within the structures that offer us comfort; and within the ideals with which we were raised.

This study invites a challenging experience.  It's a time to commit to deeper levels of self-examination and active dismantling of our own participation in systems of oppression.

The time is now, the work is hard. Together, in circle, we will transform the inner so it can be reflected in our humanity and in how we live together.

Register Today if you are interested in joining a new group.

Fees for this class are at your discretion, starting at $20 donation for the 8 week experience. If able to pay more, your contribution will support ongoing anti-racism and racial equity programs.  Scholarships available at request.

Book Study: Map of the Soul - Ego
Mondays
Beginning March 1
This book study will continue until the group feels the material is fully covered.

1-2:30 pm

This book is an overview of the ego from a Jungian perspective but also is a rich and nuanced examination of how the creative spark can ignite and sustain meaningful psychological growth.

Join this book study of Map of the Soul – Ego: I Am. In it Dr. Murray Stein explores the beginnings of consciousness and the concept of the "I."  Ego is the center of consciousness. Yet, “ego can separate itself from the body, and then become a virtual reality in its own right.”  Our study of this work will inspire our own exploration of the deep recesses of our inner life. Dr. Stein is a training and supervising analyst at the School of Analytical Psychology in Zurich, Switzerland.

Facilitated by Joan McCaskill, MA, Spiritual Director.

Please read the introduction for the first session, noting questions you may have and ideas of particular interest.

Please register online to hold your spot. We will send the Zoom link to all who have registered in advance of the class. If you are able, please pay by check or online.

6 Week Book Study: Cassandra Speaks

Wednesdays
Feb 3 - Mar 10
1:30-2:45 pm

What story would Eve have told about picking the apple? Why is Pandora blamed for opening the box? And what about the fate of Cassandra who was blessed with knowing the future but cursed so that no one believed her? What if women had been the storytellers?

Author Elizabeth Lesser believes that if women’s voices had been equally heard and respected throughout history, humankind would have followed different hero myths and guiding stories—stories that value caretaking, champion compassion, and elevate communication over vengeance and violence.

Cassandra Speaks is about the stories we tell and how those stories become the culture. It’s about the stories we still blindly cling to, and the ones that cling to us: the origin tales, the guiding myths, the religious parables, the literature and films and fairy tales passed down through the centuries about women and men, power and war, sex and love, and the values we live by. This book is about what happens when women are the storytellers too—when we speak from our authentic voices, when we flex our values, when we become protagonists in the tales we tell about what it means to be human.

Facilitated by Debbie Morrill and members of this circle.
