Yoga & Book Study "Revolution of the Soul": A Journey Through Breath Into Body

Tuesdays Weekly

Beginning January 10

6 - 7:15 pm

At The Red Shoes

  "Breathe and Everything Changes"

These words, gently spoken in a yoga class, were the beginning of life transformation for author, Seane Corn.

More than a yoga class and more than a book study... This book journey adds new depth and dimension to each yoga pose, and explores how the true teachings of yoga bring healing by eliminating a sense of separation and cultivating an awareness of the divinity in all.

Seane Corn, co-founder of the non-profit, Off the Mat, Into the World®, offers an invitation, through this book, to open and awaken, on a journey with yoga. It's raw, it's powerful, it will bring you to both darkness and light.

If you have never been to a yoga class and are interested in a powerful path of self-healing, this is for you. If you have a regular yoga practice and are ready to deepen your relationship with the experience, and feel the spiritual fullness of each pose, this is for you

Please read the Introduction through Chapter 2 for the first class.

Facilitated by Angela Grillo, TRS Assistant Program Director, Dream Reader & Intuitive Coach, and Yoga Instructor. Angela received her 200-hr Akhanda YTT with World Conscious Family Yoga in Rishikesh, India. What Is Yoga Therapy? : An Introduction to a Healing Path

Saturday, January 21

1-2:15 pm

At The Red Shoes

Are you ready to be the architect of your own healing? Do you want to reduce, or manage your physical or emotional pain? Improve your day-to-day functioning? Achieve improved health and well-being? In this introductory workshop, we will look at Stress, a common complaint that most people contend with and explore how yoga therapy can help.

Yoga therapy is a bio-psychosocial and holistic approach to health, healing, and wellness that recognizes that all disease and injury come not just with physical symptoms, but also psychological, emotional and social components. Yoga therapy recognizes that each person’s experience of their disease or injury and treatment is unique. It is custom-tailored to your specific condition, experience, and lifestyle. Whether your life is impacted by anxiety and depression, cancer, chronic pain, neurological issues, physical injury, pelvic floor dysfunction, or you want to work on overall well-being, yoga therapy can help.

In this 60–90-minute workshop, we will look at a common complaint that most people contend with and that accompanies most diseases and injuries – stress, the science, how it impacts us, and ways yoga therapy can help. We will also talk about what yoga therapy is and what a treatment session might look like. Part lecture, part experiential, you will leave feeling more at peace and refreshed.

No prior yoga experience is needed, and everything can be done from your chair. Dress comfortably.

Facilitated by Beth Tomlinson, certified Yoga Therapist, Yoga Alliance RYT500hr and Advanced Teacher of Therapeutic Yoga. Beth holds a specialty certification in Yoga Therapy for Mental Health and Addiction. Beth also holds additional certificates in Exercise Physiology from Stanford and in Hatha, Restorative, Chair, Yoga for Seniors, and Trauma-Informed Teaching.
