Book Study

Ego & Archetype

Mondays Weekly

Beginning Jan 3

noon -1:30 pm

*This book study is now over. A new Jungian book study will start in February*

Are you ready to dig deeper into your personal journey to psychological wholeness? We will immerse in a book study based on the work of Carl Jung. The author, Edward Edinger, analyzes the individuation process, and uses symbolism in religion, myth, dreams, and art to illuminate the path. Discussing the stages in this transformative process, he relates them to our search for meaning. As we integrate this eye-opening path to Self, with Joan McCaskill as our guide, we gain perspectives that make a more authentic life possible.

Facilitated by Joan McCaskill, MA, Spiritual Director.

If you wish to join us on Zoom, please register online at least 3 hours before the start of class and we will email the link prior to class.

The Spiritual Ecology Circle

Join us to explore the spiritual dimension of our present ecological crisis. This Circle grows out of the awareness that the outer destruction we see in the world is related to an inner disconnection from and disregard for the sacred within all of life. Through book studies, film screenings, speakers, ceremonies and activities in nature, we will explore ideas and ways of seeing that bring us back into relationship with an animate, ensouled world.  Cultivating a sense of humility and joy in being a part of the natural world, we will move towards an ethics of responsibility, reciprocity, care and love for each other, the earth and all beings.

Book Study

Braiding Sweetgrass

Mondays Weekly

Beginning January 3

6:00 -7:15 pm

Join us in a study of Robin Wall Kimmerer's 'Braiding Sweetgrass', a New York Times and Washington Post Bestseller. In this remarkable book, Kimmerer weaves together her experiences as a bearer of different strands of wisdom and ways of seeing the world: Western Science, Indigenous Traditional Knowledge, and her experiences as a woman and a mother.  Through stories, she shows us how other living beings ―asters and goldenrod, strawberries and squash, salamanders, algae, and sweetgrass―offer us gifts and lessons, even if we've forgotten how to hear their voices. Together we will immerse ourselves in Kimmerer's paradigm-shifting reflections, and consider her central argument: that the awakening of ecological consciousness requires the acknowledgment and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world.

Facilitated by Lilia Kapsali-Grant, Assistant Program Director of The Red Shoes, Nature Connected Coach, Master's in Outdoor Environmental Education.

January Theme: The Feminine in Vulnerability

"And where I feel lost: that’s sacred ground."

~ A Book of Life, by Peter Kingsley.

There comes a time in one’s life, and now, especially, in the life of our journey in earth, when we come to our knees. This is the place of vulnerability. No one wants to go there. But life brings us this gift, if we allow it. It's a place of opening. Can we open to such vulnerability, which belongs to the feminine, to the mystery of birth? Do we know that it gives a woman her true dignity? For me, I learned how vulnerability opens to a greater strength. And that it's always given for the sake of life.
