Book Study: Map of the Soul - Shadow of the Hidden Self
Mondays
Jan 11 - Feb 15

1-2:30 pm

In his book, Map of the Soul: Shadow of Our Hidden Self, Dr. Murray Stein explores the recesses of our psyche, in particular the shadow and its aspects. He also explores the shadow images used by BTS, the Korean Pop band. This band has been taking the world by storm with albums inspired by Dr. Stein's “Map of the Soul.”  This book not only expands on the subject of the shadow but explores the album the BTS have created. The BTS, whose world wide popularity shows their ability to tap into the universal themes found in the collective domain.  Hopefully, our study of this work will inspire our own exploring the deep recesses of our inner life. Dr. Stein is a training and supervising analyst at the School of Analytical Psychology in Zurich, Switzerland.

Facilitated by Joan McCaskill, MA, Spiritual Director.

Please register no later than 3 hours prior to the beginning of this session to receive the Zoom access link for this course.

21-Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge ©
by America and Moore

Tuesdays
Jan 19-Feb 9

11:30 am-1 pm

We invite you to join the 21 Day Racial Equity Challenge

For 21 days, do one action each day to further your understanding of power, privilege, supremacy, oppression, and equity. Choose from suggestions for readings, podcasts, videos, observations, and ways to form and deepen community connections.

Each day check the varied resource list and  do one thing:  read a short article, watch a video, take small steps. It isn’t time consuming—many activities are only five or ten minutes long. We know that adding a daily practice for 21 days is an effective way to add a new habit of  awareness.

Our group will begin together in our first class and then use a tracking log of activities so we can check in weekly to discuss our daily experiences.  Deepen your understanding of Racial Equity.  Go at your own pace and  each week benefit from the deep sharing and the wisdom of the group.  Read, Listen, Watch, Notice, Connect, Engage, Act, Reflect, Stay inspired...and  Grow

Facilitated by Summer Steib, who has served as the director of the Women’s Center at LSU since August 2012.

Please register no later than 3 hours prior to the beginning of this session to receive the Zoom access link for this course.

Fees for this class will be at your discretion, starting at $10 donation for the 4 week experience. If able to pay more, your contribution will support ongoing anti-racism and racial equity programs.  Scholarships available at request.

8 Week Book Study: A Self-Study
Me and White Supremacy

Tuesdays
February 23 - April 13

6 - 7:30 pm

6 study groups have entered this study. You have the opportunity to join this upcoming cohort of participants to invest in this learning process.

The Red Shoes eight-week self-study based on the new book Me and White Supremacy by Layla F. Saad.

This book creates access points to the places racism hides: within our beliefs; within the structures that offer us comfort; and within the ideals with which we were raised.

This study invites a challenging experience.  It's a time to commit to deeper levels of self-examination and active dismantling of our own participation in systems of oppression.

The time is now, the work is hard. Together, in circle, we will transform the inner so it can be reflected in our humanity and in how we live together.
Facilitated by Cindi DiMarco who has a deep interest in inner transformation and the connection of all beings. Cindi is a Reiki Master Teacher, Shamanic Facilitator and a Singer - Songwriter.

Fees for this class are at your discretion, starting at $20 donation for the 8 week experience. If able to pay more, your contribution will support ongoing anti-racism and racial equity programs.  Scholarships available at request.

6 Week Book Study: Cassandra Speaks

Wednesdays
Feb 3 - Mar 10
1:30-2:45 pm

What story would Eve have told about picking the apple? Why is Pandora blamed for opening the box? And what about the fate of Cassandra who was blessed with knowing the future but cursed so that no one believed her? What if women had been the storytellers?

Author Elizabeth Lesser believes that if women’s voices had been equally heard and respected throughout history, humankind would have followed different hero myths and guiding stories—stories that value caretaking, champion compassion, and elevate communication over vengeance and violence.

Cassandra Speaks is about the stories we tell and how those stories become the culture. It’s about the stories we still blindly cling to, and the ones that cling to us: the origin tales, the guiding myths, the religious parables, the literature and films and fairy tales passed down through the centuries about women and men, power and war, sex and love, and the values we live by. This book is about what happens when women are the storytellers too—when we speak from our authentic voices, when we flex our values, when we become protagonists in the tales we tell about what it means to be human.

Facilitated by Debbie Morrill and members of this circle.
