Spiritual Awareness: Half the Sky
Wednesdays     February 1-29               10:30-11:30am

"Awareness puts us into contact with the universe.
It mines every relationship, unmasks every event, every moment, for the meaning that is under the meaning..."
–from Illuminated Life by Joan Chittister

Beginning with a focus on the spiritual practice of awareness, a discussion of the book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide will expand understanding of women’s issues in the world and in our Baton Rouge community. This weekly circle will provide a space to explore “What is God demanding of my heart?” and a community of support in learning to “see as God sees.”

Facilitated by Gerry Stark, community volunteer, spiritual seeker, and advocate of everyday life as a spiritual practice.

The Key: Searching, Sharing and Living
Thursdays       February 2-23        6-7pm

Enter a safe place for men to meet that allows for authentic growth. Our greatest challenge is often not found in our human choices but rather in discerning the Divine Presence and guidance hidden deep within our lives. We hope to draw from the power of spirit present within each of us to find the courage to strip away the pretense of our false selves and discover new energies and joy grounded within our souls. Using Richard Rohr’s book Wild Men to Wise Men: Reflections on Male Spirituality as a guide, our group will encourage each participant to question, learn and grow. By coming together through prayer, fellowship and unconditional acceptance, we hope that our men's group will lead to lives lived fully in relationship with the Divine.

Facilitated by David Dragon, whose spiritual life was influenced deeply by an initiation as a Beloved Son of God in Chicago; and Tom Lastrapes, who has  participated in a variety of Richard Rohr programs including the Male Rites of Passage program.
